Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Bookkeeper for a temp-to-hire opportunity supporting a growing real estate development and construction organization with multiple residential projects. This remote role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong construction bookkeeping experience, Sage software proficiency, and the ability to manage financial details with accuracy and consistency.

The Construction Bookkeeper will play a key role in accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, construction loan draw packages, reporting, and project financial coordination. This is a great opportunity to work with a small, collaborative team where your accounting expertise directly supports project success, lender documentation, and informed decision-making by ownership.

The work environment is structured, professional, and team-focused, with regular communication between accounting, project managers, and leadership. Key Responsibilities

- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions using Sage construction accounting software.
- Prepare and submit monthly construction loan draw packages with accurate supporting documentation.
- Track job costs, budgets, commitments, change orders, and project-related financial activity.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, vendor records, and digital bookkeeping files.
- Coordinate with project managers and ownership regarding cost updates, reporting needs, and documentation.
- Maintain vendor files, W-9s, lien releases, compliance documents, and assist with AIA billing as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

- Compensation: $30 to $35 per hour, depending on experience.
- Job Type: Temp-to-Hire.
- Work Arrangement: Remote.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Candidate will be hired as a 1099 employee after the probation period.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage AP, AR, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and monthly financial reporting for construction projects.
- Prepare construction loan draw submissions and lender documentation.
- Track project job costs, budgets, commitments, and change orders.
- Coordinate financial documentation with project managers, vendors, lenders, and ownership.

- Sage construction accounting software experience is required.
- 3 or more years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, and construction accounting workflows.
- Experience preparing construction loan draws and related lender documentation.
- Ability to maintain accurate vendor files, W-9s, lien releases, compliance records, and digital financial documentation.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to manage multiple deadlines independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for remote coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Reliable home office setup suitable for remote accounting work.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with residential construction, real estate development, or commercial construction accounting.
- Familiarity with AIA billing processes.
- Prior experience supporting project managers with cost tracking, budget updates, and construction documentation.
