About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Bookkeeper to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing job costing, and preparing detailed reports to support our growing construction operations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in construction accounting and proficiency in BIS Software or similar construction management platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and reconcile all financial records, including A/P, A/R, payroll, and general ledger entries
Perform detailed job costing, tracking budgets, expenses, and profitability for multiple projects
Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Collaborate with project managers and estimators to maintain accurate financial data
Manage subcontractor payments, lien releases, vendor invoicing, and payment processing
Support year-end audit and tax preparation activities
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper in the construction industry
Proficiency in BIS Software or similar construction accounting platforms
Strong understanding of construction accounting principles and job costing
Skilled in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and organization
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Experience:
3+ years of bookkeeping experience in a construction or contracting environment
Familiarity with AIA billing and certified payroll reporting
