Job Summary
A stable construction organization in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Construction Biller for a direct hire opportunity. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong construction billing, accounts receivable, and subcontractor payable experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, project-driven office environment.
The Construction Biller will support private and public agency projects, prepare accurate monthly billings, coordinate with project management, review subcontractor documentation, and help ensure billing and collection processes are completed on time. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and record accurate monthly client and owner billings using AIA and customized billing formats, including required backup documentation.
- Review project contracts, billing schedules, retention terms, change orders, preliminary notices, and compliance requirements.
- Record and review subcontractor payables, releases, labor compliance documents, and related project billing support.
- Coordinate with project managers, senior management, clients, and subcontractors to support timely billings, collections, and payments.
- Prepare and review monthly accounts receivable aging and subcontractor payable aging reports, including follow-up on delinquent receivables.
- Assist with retention escrow accounts, daily cash reporting, subcontractor cost accruals, and monthly accounting close deadlines.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $52,000 to $62,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Prepare monthly construction billings for private and public agency projects.
- Manage accounts receivable follow-up, subcontractor payables review, and billing documentation.
- Support project managers with billing status, subcontractor cost tracking, and change order impacts.
- Assist with monthly accounting close, reporting, and project compliance deadlines.
- Minimum of 3 years of construction accounting, construction billing, or related project accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of AIA billing, progress billing, retention billing, accounts receivable, and subcontractor payable processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to analyze contracts, billing documents, releases, change orders, and compliance documentation with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with project managers, executives, clients, and external parties.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines across active construction projects.
- Knowledge of construction billing compliance, lien rights timing, preliminary notices, and public agency billing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Vista construction accounting software.
-Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to construction billing and collections.
- Familiarity with additional accounting functions such as accounts payable, payroll, or general ledger.
- Experience supporting both residential and commercial construction projects.
