We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for managing project-based accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the financial health of multiple construction projects. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction-specific accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle accounting for construction projects
Track and analyze job costs, budgets, and project profitability
Prepare and maintain Work in Progress (WIP) schedules
Process job cost allocations, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations
Oversee accounts payable/receivable related to subcontractors and vendors
Manage progress billing, AIA billing, and lien waivers
Reconcile project accounts and investigate variances
Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking and forecasting
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Support audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
Qualifications
3–5+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on construction accounting
Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 100/300, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience in commercial, residential, or industrial construction environments
CPA or CPA-track is a plus
