Job Description
Position Summary:
The Commercial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial buildings and facilities. This role ensures all electrical work meets safety standards, code requirements, and project specifications. The Commercial Electrician may also oversee apprentices and contribute to training and delegation of tasks. Experience with EV charger installation is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, lighting, panels, and fixtures in commercial environments.
Install and troubleshoot EV car chargers and equipment within commercial or residential settings (EV charging business experience preferred).
Read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and technical specifications.
Perform inspections to identify hazards, defects, and necessary repairs or adjustments.
Ensure compliance with NEC, state/local electrical codes, and safety regulations.
Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using hand tools and power tools.
Test electrical systems using multimeters, ohmmeters, and other testing equipment.
Delegate tasks or supervise apprentices, providing guidance, training, and quality checks.
Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and general contractors to complete work on time.
Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and completed tasks.
Follow all company safety protocols and use proper PPE.
Qualifications:
Maryland Journeyman state license
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
2–5 years of commercial electrical experience.
Experience installing EV charging systems is highly preferred.
Ability to supervise, mentor, or delegate work to apprentices.
Strong knowledge of electrical theory, circuitry, lighting systems, and power distribution.
Proficient in using electrical tools, equipment, and testing devices.
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in new construction, tenant improvements, or commercial remodels.
Familiarity with low-voltage systems, generators, or energy management systems
