Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Civil Sitework Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil construction projects. This role is focused specifically on sitework, including earthwork, utilities, grading, paving, and related infrastructure.
A civil construction background is required for this position. Candidates without prior experience in civil construction or sitework environments will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
-Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil sitework projects, including:
-Earthwork and grading
-Underground utilities (storm, sanitary, water)
-Roadway, curb, and paving
-Site preparation and restoration
-Review and interpret civil construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports
-Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost analyses
-Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier pricing
-Identify scope gaps, risks, and constructability concerns
-Develop complete bid proposals and supporting documentation
-Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and leadership during bid preparation
-Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and pricing benchmarks
-Participate in bid reviews and project handoff meetings
Required Qualifications (Must Have):
-Civil construction background (required)
-Proven experience estimating civil sitework projects
-Strong understanding of sitework means and methods
-Ability to read and interpret civil plans, profiles, and specifications
-High level of attention to detail and cost accuracy
-Experience using estimating and quantity takeoff software
-Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with DOT, municipal, or large commercial civil projects
-Field experience in civil construction (earthwork, utilities, or paving)
-Familiarity with local soil conditions, codes, and permitting processes
-Experience negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers
