This role supports municipal and private development projects by applying civil engineering principles to plan review, site inspections, and infrastructure improvements. The engineer works closely with internal teams, contractors, and clients to help deliver projects efficiently, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Apply civil engineering methods and techniques to private development plan reviews, including:
Drainage and stormwater systems
Water main and sanitary sewer systems
Erosion control measures
Roadway and pavement construction
Assist with site inspections for private developments and single-family residential projects
Support quantity takeoffs and engineer’s estimates for roadway resurfacing and minor capital improvement projects
Assist with preparing bid items and technical specifications
Coordinate with contractors and project partners as needed
Develop working knowledge of DOT and local agency standards through experience and self-learning
Communicate project status, schedules, and issues with supervisors, team members, and project partners on a regular basis
Participate in client meetings to provide project updates and technical support
Build understanding of project budgeting, cost tracking, and execution
Support project delivery with a focus on efficiency, quality, and cost control
Follow established QA/QC procedures on all projects
Organize and maintain project documentation and files
Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months
2–5 years of related experience through full-time work, part-time roles, or internships preferred
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
Reliable and consistent work schedule
Familiarity with MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred
Clear communication skills and comfort working with technical and non-technical stakeholders
