Position Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead and oversee all financial operations of the organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and sound fiscal stewardship of our grant-funded programs and donor-supported initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis process to support strategic organizational goals
Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll, and financial reporting
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations, including grant and funder requirements
Manage audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and financial consultants
Monitor grant budgets, financial reporting, and funding allocations to ensure appropriate use of restricted funds
Provide financial insight and recommendations to the CEO, Board of Directors, and executive team
Supervise finance team members and support professional development within the department
Implement and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and risk management strategies
Partner with development, program, and operations teams to align financial goals with programmatic impact
Present monthly and annual financial statements to senior leadership and the Board
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, MBA, or master’s degree preferred)
Minimum 7 years of senior-level finance experience in a nonprofit environment
Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, GAAP, and financial regulations
Demonstrated experience managing and reporting on government and private grants
Proven leadership and team management experience in a mission-driven organization
Excellent analytical, communication, and strategic thinking skills
Experience working with nonprofit financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud, Sage Intacct)
Passion for addressing homelessness and advancing social justice through financial stewardship
