A mission-driven healthcare services organization in Fremont, CA is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team. This direct hire CFO opportunity is ideal for a senior finance leader with strong nonprofit, healthcare, government contract, and multi-source funding experience.
The Chief Financial Officer will oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, revenue cycle, internal controls, financial reporting, audits, grants, contracts, and long-term financial strategy. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role partners closely with executive leadership and the Board of Directors to protect organizational assets, guide sustainable growth, and support the delivery of essential community healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, cash flow management, fund management, revenue cycle, payroll, A/P, A/R, purchasing, billing, contract reporting, and invoicing.
- Develop short-term and long-term financial plans, predictive models, budget forecasts, financial analyses, and reporting tools that support executive decision-making.
- Oversee financial statements, month-end and year-end close, internal controls, audit preparation, tax filings, regulatory reporting, and compliance with GAAP and nonprofit financial requirements.
- Manage financial reporting for government contracts, grants, federal and state funders, foundations, licensing agencies, and the Board of Directors.
- Supervise, coach, and develop a finance team of approximately 15 staff while ensuring efficient operations, clear accountability, and appropriate segregation of duties.
- Partner with the CEO, executive leadership team, Finance Committee, Audit Committee, and Board of Directors on financial strategy, risk management, insurance, banking relationships, investments, and financing needs.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $150,000 to $215,000 per year.
- Employment type: Direct hire.

- Oversee enterprise-wide financial operations for a nonprofit healthcare organization, including accounting, budgeting, revenue cycle, grants, contracts, and financial reporting.
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, internal controls, audits, compliance, cash flow management, fund accounting, and board-level financial reporting.
- Manage and develop a finance department while partnering with executive leadership, board committees, funders, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
- Support government contract management, multi-source funding, project accounting, cost accounting, and nonprofit financial systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, or 10 years of directly related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CFO, Controller, or equivalent senior financial leadership role.
- Experience overseeing financial operations for a nonprofit with 100 or more employees and/or a budget of $10 million or more.
- Management experience with government contracts and multi-source funding.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, internal controls, financial reporting, fund accounting, cost accounting, bookkeeping, and financial management information requirements.
- Knowledge of GAAP as applied to nonprofit agencies and healthcare business environments.
- Ability to plan, organize, implement, evaluate, and improve financial programs, financial systems, policies, procedures, and business processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, and board presentation skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with executive leadership, board members, finance staff, government agencies, healthcare partners, funders, auditors, and external stakeholders.
- Access to reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or MBA.
- 10 years of experience as a CFO or Controller.
- Experience in nonprofit and healthcare environments.
- Federally Qualified Health Center or community health center experience.
- Experience with Medi-Cal, Medicare, healthcare contracting entities, and community health funding structures.
- Experience with software development or professional services business environments.
