We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage and process payroll functions for a construction company in North San Diego!
Temporary until April 2026, with the potential to go permanent
$25-$31/hr DOE
Opportunity to be Hybrid, flexible schedule

The ideal candidate must be proficient in Paylocity and have a strong understanding of prevailing wage laws, particularly in the construction industry.

This role is critical in ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time, with full compliance to federal, state, and local labor laws, including prevailing wage requirements.
Support the implementation and maintenance of our Paylocity payroll systems, ensuring data integrity.
Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees using Paylocity, required.
Ensure accurate wage calculation, including regular, overtime, and prevailing wages.
Accurately calculate and track fringe benefits and certified payroll reporting for prevailing wage projects, required.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
Set up and maintain employee payroll records, including direct deposit, deductions, benefits, and tax information.
Generate and submit certified payroll reports as required for projects.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, timesheets, and paycheck discrepancies.
Stay current with changes in wage laws, prevailing wage regulations, and payroll tax updates.
Assist in year-end processes including W-2s, ACA reporting, and audits.
Handle inquiries related to payroll discrepancies or issues from employees promptly and professionally.
Experience

Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role with a strong understanding of payroll processes and regulations.
Experience with Paylocity payroll software is required.
Experience with Prevailing Wage payroll, LCP Tracker and DIR, required.
Familiarity with HRIS systems for maintaining employee records, required.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels regarding payroll matters.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
