Job Summary
A well-established public accounting firm in Tucson, AZ is seeking an experienced CPA Tax Specialist or EA (Enrolled Agent) for a direct hire opportunity within its Tax Department. This role is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys preparing complex individual, business, trust, estate, and gift tax returns while serving as a trusted resource for clients and internal team members.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare individual, business, trust, estate, and gift tax returns, including multi-state income tax filings.
- Conduct quarterly tax planning for individual and business clients.
- Review financial statements and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness before tax preparation.
- Research and resolve tax questions, notices, and compliance issues involving federal, state, and local taxing authorities.
- Communicate with clients, taxing authorities, and internal team members to support timely and accurate tax compliance.
- Serve as a tax resource to clients and colleagues by providing guidance on income tax matters.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Prepare business, individual, trust, estate, and gift tax returns.
- Support quarterly tax planning and tax compliance projects.
- Review financial records and documentation prior to tax preparation.
- Research tax issues and communicate with taxing authorities as needed.
- Current CPA or EA license, or active candidacy toward licensure.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of tax preparation experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and GAAP.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PDF software, QuickBooks, and other accounting applications.
- Experience working in a paperless accounting environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and issue-resolution skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and ability to build positive client and team relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with professional tax preparation software.
- Prior public accounting firm experience.
- Experience preparing multi-state tax returns.
- Background supporting tax planning for businesses, individuals, trusts, and estates.
