We are partnered with a growing financial institution with operations in Miami and Puerto Rico that is seeking an experienced, bilingual Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee day-to-day banking operations, digital service delivery, and execution of strategic initiatives. This is a senior executive role reporting directly to the CEO, with regular collaboration across the executive leadership team and Board.

Travel between Miami and Puerto Rico is required and essential to this role. Candidates must be comfortable and available to travel as business needs dictate.

Position Overview
The COO is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and scalability within a digital-first banking model. A critical component of this role is serving as the executive owner and sponsor of a core banking system migration, ensuring business continuity, regulatory alignment, and successful execution across all functions.

Key Responsibilities
Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team to drive operational strategy, digital transformation, and governance across Miami and Puerto Rico operations
Oversee day-to-day banking operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and scalable service delivery
Serve as executive owner of the core banking system migration, leading cross-functional teams and third-party vendors
Establish governance, timelines, testing, and cutover plans to ensure a smooth, compliant system conversion
Act as a primary executive liaison with regulators, auditors, and internal risk/compliance teams
Monitor performance through KPIs, reporting, and operational controls to support growth and risk management

Qualifications & Experience
7+ years of senior leadership experience in banking, fintech, or regulated financial services
Direct experience leading or overseeing a core banking system implementation or conversion
Strong understanding of banking operations and technology-driven banking models
Proven experience working with federal banking regulators, auditors, and examiners
Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives in highly regulated environments
Fully bilingual in Spanish and English (required)
Willing and able to travel regularly between Miami and Puerto Rico
