Job Opening: CNC Machinist
Location: Akron, NY Compensation: $26.91 per hour to start
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and performing machining operations on a wide range of parts made from castings, weldments, and stock bars.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform setups according to program directives, using shims, blocks, supports, and fixtures to ensure proper alignment.
• Interpret drawings, sketches, process sheets, and specifications to determine operation sequence.
• Set up and operate both CNC and manual machines simultaneously.
• Operate CNC machine controls, computers, and software, with the ability to edit code when necessary.
• Inspect work to ensure compliance with specifications, program directives, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with Programmers, Group Leaders, Methods Engineers, and Management to standardize processes.
• Deburr parts during machining operations using hand tools and power tools.
• Maintain production efficiency by keeping standard times.
• Assist with secondary functions such as drilling, countersinking, tapping, and removal of broken taps or drills.
• Maintain detailed records of work performed, materials processed, and program changes.
• Replace broken or dulled tools as needed.
Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One to two years of experience in Mill Machining or equivalent training/certification
• Experience in rigging and overhead crane operation
• Knowledge of GD&T
• Ability to work with both metric and imperial measurements
• Proficiency with inspection instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and indicators
