Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Operator & Setup Machinist for a direct hire opportunity in Oxnard, CA. This first-shift, on-site role is ideal for a skilled CNC machinist who can independently set up and operate CNC lathes from blueprint review through first article approval.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a precision aerospace manufacturing environment where quality, problem-solving, and craftsmanship matter. You will be part of a collaborative production setting with supportive leadership, strong teamwork, and direct interaction with engineering and quality teams. The role is a great fit for someone who enjoys high-mix, low-volume machining and wants to use their full setup-level CNC skill set rather than simply operating a machine.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete CNC lathe setups, including blueprint review, tooling selection, workholding, offsets, and first article approval.
- Machine precision aerospace components to tight tolerances in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements.
- Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment and perform first article and in-process inspections.
- Edit offsets and make program adjustments at the machine as needed.
- Troubleshoot tooling, machining, and quality issues while collaborating with engineering and quality teams.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $30 to $50 per hour, depending on experience.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Perform independent CNC lathe setups from blueprint to approved first article.
- Machine precision aerospace components while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards.
- Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment and resolve machining or quality issues.
- Make offset edits and program adjustments at the machine.
- 3 or more years of CNC lathe setup experience.
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills.
- Ability to edit CNC programs at the machine.
- Strong understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds, fixtures, workholding, and machining strategies.
- Experience performing inspections with precision measuring tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot setup, tooling, dimensional, and production issues.
- Must pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must meet ITAR requirements.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Okuma, Mori Seiki, Haas, or similar CNC lathes.
- Experience machining titanium, stainless steel, aluminum, and other aerospace materials.
- Prior experience in aerospace manufacturing or other tight-tolerance machining environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering and quality teams.
