Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Buyer/Planner for a direct hire opportunity in Chatsworth, CA. This role is ideal for a procurement and production planning professional who can step into a fast-paced manufacturing environment and make an immediate impact on material availability, shop floor scheduling, supplier coordination, and on-time delivery performance.

The Buyer/Planner will play a key role in converting customer demand into executable production plans, managing MRP requirements, purchasing production materials and MRO supplies, and supporting engineering with sourcing needs for new designs. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on manufacturing operations, cross-functional teamwork, and working closely with production, engineering, shipping, receiving, vendors, and accounting.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and execute master production schedules based on customer demand, sales orders, capacity, and shop floor priorities.
- Create, release, sequence, and monitor work orders, job travelers, and WIP to support production flow and resolve bottlenecks.
- Manage MRP activity to align procurement timing with production schedules and ensure component availability before jobs are released.
- Purchase production commodities and MRO supplies, including supplier follow-up, expediting, delivery tracking, and issue resolution.
- Coordinate with engineering, production, shipping, receiving, accounting, and vendors to support quality, delivery, and documentation accuracy.
- Participate in daily production huddles to track schedule attainment, OTIF performance, shortages, scrap issues, and critical priorities.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $70,000 to $75,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Convert customer demand and sales orders into achievable master production schedules.
- Manage MRP planning, material availability, purchasing activity, and supplier follow-up.
- Create, release, track, and adjust work orders to support shop floor execution.
- Coordinate cross-functionally to resolve shortages, invoice discrepancies, receiving issues, quality concerns, and production delays.

- 3 to 5 years of experience in buying, production planning, materials planning, supply chain, or a related manufacturing operations role.
- Strong understanding of MRP, production scheduling, work orders, inventory planning, and shop floor coordination.
- Experience purchasing production materials, commodities, and MRO supplies.
- Ability to analyze material requirements, supplier lead times, delivery dates, and production priorities.
- Strong vendor communication skills, including expediting, shipment verification, and shortage resolution.
- Detail-oriented approach to purchase orders, work orders, engineering changes, shipping notices, and document retention.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with production leads, supervisors, engineering, shipping, receiving, and accounting.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize urgent needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting manufacturing environments with high schedule visibility and on-time delivery expectations.
- Familiarity with OTIF metrics, WIP tracking, line balancing, capacity planning, and production huddles.
- Experience sourcing materials for new product designs or engineering-driven changes.
- Background working with both production commodities and maintenance, repair, and operations purchasing.
