A direct hire Buyer opportunity is available in Northridge for an experienced purchasing professional with a strong background in electronics manufacturing, electronic components, ERP/MRP systems, and supplier coordination. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented Buyer who enjoys owning procurement activity for assigned customer accounts while working closely with Program Management, Planning, Engineering, Quality, Receiving, Stockroom, and Production.
The Buyer will play a key role in keeping materials, purchase orders, and supplier commitments aligned with production schedules and customer delivery expectations. This is a highly visible position supporting customer-focused teams and high-priority accounts in a quality-driven manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase electronic components and related materials according to customer Bills of Materials, production schedules, and committed ship dates.
- Create, issue, and manage purchase orders in Epicor ERP, ensuring accuracy of part numbers, revisions, quantities, pricing, and delivery dates.
- Review MRP demand, monitor open purchase order backlog, confirm supplier acknowledgements, and expedite or de-expedite materials as needed.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, and delivery commitments with suppliers, distributors, and franchised vendors.
- Partner with Program Management, Planning, Production, Engineering, Quality, Receiving, Stockroom, and Document Control to support material flow and on-time delivery.
- Proactively resolve electronic component shortages, manage Last Part In tracking, identify alternate sources, and support cost-reduction opportunities.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $70,000 to $90,000 per year.
- Job type: Direct hire.
- Manage purchasing activity for assigned customer accounts and support customer delivery commitments.
- Source electronic components, issue purchase orders, manage supplier follow-up, and align material availability with production needs.
- Monitor MRP demand, open purchase orders, shortages, lead times, and Last Part In status to support manufacturing schedules.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve material, quality, delivery, and documentation issues.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as an electronics buyer, purchasing agent, procurement specialist, or similar role.
- Experience purchasing electronic components and related materials in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience using ERP/MRP systems required.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated negotiation, sourcing, supplier management, and purchase order management skills.
- Ability to read and work from Bills of Materials, part numbers, revisions, lead times, and production planning requirements.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear purchasing updates to customers, suppliers, Project Managers, Planners, and cross-functional teams.
- High attention to detail, strong ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to manage shifting priorities in a production-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Epicor ERP experience is highly preferred.
- Contract manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Experience supporting customer-focused teams or high-profile customer accounts.
- Familiarity with approved vendor lists, supplier performance tracking, end-of-life buys, last-time buys, alternate sourcing, and component shortage resolution.
- Experience working in a quality-driven environment such as AS9100D, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or similar regulated manufacturing settings.
