Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Buyer for a direct hire opportunity in Fremont, CA. This role is ideal for a procurement professional who enjoys negotiating with suppliers, managing material availability, supporting production needs, and improving purchasing processes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

As a Buyer, you will play a key role in ensuring cost-effective, timely acquisition of materials while maintaining strong supplier relationships and accurate ERP system data. This opportunity offers a collaborative team environment, supportive leadership, and the chance to work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Quality Control, and Engineering to improve customer satisfaction and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Issue RFQs and RFPs, evaluate supplier responses, and select vendors based on cost, quality, service, and delivery performance.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and long-term supplier agreements to support cost savings and supply continuity.
- Review purchase requisitions, place purchase orders, and expedite or adjust deliveries based on material demand.
- Maintain inventory levels, monitor open orders, and ensure timely receipt of materials to support manufacturing schedules.
- Manage supplier relationships, track supplier performance, and address delivery, quality, or pricing issues as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Sales, Marketing, Quality Control, and Engineering to support customer satisfaction and operational goals.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage procurement activities for materials, components, and supplier services in a manufacturing environment.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, supplier terms, and purchasing agreements.
- Maintain ERP and MRP system accuracy related to purchasing, inventory, and supplier data.
- Support inventory control, material planning, and cross-functional communication to meet production and customer requirements.

- Associate degree or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience required if degree requirement is not met.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant buyer, purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience preferred.
- Experience with purchasing, inventory control, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and MRP systems.
- Strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information.

Preferred Qualifications

- APICS certification is desirable.
- Experience in the wire, cable, or electrical componentry industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO 9000, ISO 13485, or ISO 16949 standards is preferred.
- Knowledge of international purchasing, ITAR, lean manufacturing, REACH, and RoHS is a plus.
- Experience with Avante ERP is preferred.
