Business Development Manager – Retail & Consumer Products
We are seeking a high-impact Business Development Manager to drive new customer acquisition and strategic account growth across the U.S. market. This is a pure hunter role focused on identifying, developing, and closing new business with leading brands and retail/channel partners.
You will be responsible for positioning a global manufacturing and product solutions organization as a long-term strategic partner—not just a supplier.
This role is on-site in Oxnard, CA when not traveling.
What You’ll Do
Identify and develop new strategic customers across U.S. markets
Build relationships with decision-makers at brands, sourcing teams, and product leaders
Target key channels including:
- Retail (e.g., Costco, Target, Walmart, Amazon)
- Outdoor, lifestyle, and wellness brands
- Private label and licensed product programs
- Promotional and corporate gifting channels
Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, outreach, presentations, sampling, quoting, negotiation, and close
Build and manage a disciplined pipeline of new business opportunities
Translate market insights into actionable growth strategies
Collaborate with global teams to ensure successful execution of customer programs
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of business development, strategic account management, or B2B sales experience
Proven track record of winning new accounts (not just managing existing ones)
Experience in consumer products, manufacturing, or product-based industries preferred
Strong ability to engage and influence senior decision-makers
Experience selling solution-based offerings (not commodity or transactional sales)
Background in drinkware, consumer goods, outdoor/lifestyle, or similar categories
strongly preferred
Familiarity with retail and brand-driven business models highly desirable
Success Profile
The ideal candidate is:
A true hunter / rainmaker who thrives on opening doors
Highly self-directed and motivated by new business wins
Skilled at building trust with senior stakeholders quickly
Comfortable managing long, complex sales cycles
Strong communicator with solid commercial and negotiation skills
Additional Details
Travel: ~20–30%, and up to 50-70% when needed (customer meetings, trade shows, business development, domestic and some international travel)
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, global environment
Cross-functional collaboration with teams across U.S. and Asia
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Why This Role
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a high-growth market and directly influence the expansion of a global product solutions business through strategic customer acquisition.
