A leading national law firm is seeking an experienced and proactive Business Development Manager to join its New York office. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on firm-wide growth, develop strong community and market relationships, and drive strategic business initiatives.
The ideal candidate will bring at least eight years of business development experience—preferably within a law firm or professional services setting—and possess strong regional connections within the New York area.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development Strategy
Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to support firm-wide growth.
Identify new markets, clients, and service opportunities with a focus on the New York region.
2. Client Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with attorneys and key clients.
Conduct needs assessments to align services with client objectives.
3. Market Research & Analysis
Monitor legal industry trends and competitor activity.
Deliver strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
4. Proposal & Presentation Development
Lead development of proposals, presentations, and marketing collateral.
Collaborate closely with partners and practice groups on client pitches.
5. Networking & Outreach
Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and community engagements.
Build and maintain a robust network of regional and national referral sources.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with attorneys, practice groups, and marketing teams to ensure alignment with firm goals.
Facilitate strong internal communication to enhance client service.
7. Performance Tracking & Reporting
Track business development activities and measure ROI.
Adjust strategies based on performance data and feedback.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Law, or related field.
MBA or JD preferred.
Minimum of eight years of business development experience, ideally in a law firm.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing growth strategies.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of the legal industry and market trends.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities.
Project management expertise and the ability to handle multiple initiatives.
Self-motivated, organized, and collaborative.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
