Position Overview

A high-growth organization in the education technology and compliance sector is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead new client acquisition across schools and libraries nationwide. This is a hunter-style sales role focused exclusively on winning new business, developing relationships, and expanding market presence within the E-Rate program space.

This role offers a greenfield territory with significant opportunity to build relationships and generate new revenue streams. The ideal candidate thrives on prospecting, networking, and closing deals within the education or public-sector ecosystem. Travel to districts, conferences, and regional events will be required.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

Identify and target new school districts and libraries eligible for E-Rate Category 1 services.

Drive new logo acquisition through proactive outreach, networking, conferences, and referrals.

Build and maintain strong relationships with district-level decision-makers, including superintendents, IT directors, administrators, and consultants.

Represent the company at regional and national education technology conferences to generate leads and enhance visibility.

Qualify prospects, develop proposals, and manage the full sales cycle from introduction to signed agreement.

Maintain accurate records of pipeline activity in CRM and provide regular updates on progress and results.

Market Expansion & Strategy

Develop a trusted reputation within the E-Rate and education technology ecosystem through strong regional and state-level engagement.

Monitor education funding trends and share insights to inform company strategy.

Collaborate with internal departments to align sales efforts with organizational goals and emerging opportunities.

Performance Metrics

Success in this role will be measured by:

Number of new districts or clients acquired.

New revenue generated from E-Rate Category 1 services.

Pipeline development quality and consistency.

Active participation and representation at industry events.

Professionalism, CRM usage, and adherence to defined sales processes.

Requirements

5+ years of B2B hunter-style sales experience (preferably within education, technology, or public sector).

Proven success in prospecting, lead generation, and closing new business.

Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging both administrative and technical audiences.

Self-motivated, competitive, and results-driven with the ability to work independently.

Willingness to travel 25–40% for client visits and industry events.

Proficiency with CRM tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and online research platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Demonstrated ability to build long-term client relationships from the ground up.

Familiarity with the E-Rate program or K-12 education sector a strong plus.

Compensation

Competitive base salary plus a commission-heavy structure rewarding new client acquisition.

Commissions directly tied to new districts signed and revenue generated.
