Position Overview
The Brake Operator is responsible for setting up and operating press brake machines to bend, form, and fabricate metal components to exact specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of fabrication processes, machine operation, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate press brake machines (manual, CNC, or hybrid).
Select proper tooling (punches and dies) and adjust machine settings as needed.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications with close attention to tolerances.
Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to ensure accuracy.
Maintain safe operating procedures and report any equipment or material issues.
Support continuous improvement and 5S/Lean manufacturing initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Previous experience operating press brake machines.
Strong understanding of metal fabrication and forming processes.
Knowledge of press brake setup, operation, and maintenance.
Ability to use measurement tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers, square, angle gauge).
Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings.
Knowledge of different materials and their properties.
Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with setup, programming, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of multiple bending methods (air bending, bottom bending, coining).
Familiarity with 5S and Lean manufacturing principles.
