A growing oil and gas company in Downtown Shreveport, LA is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its accounting team on a full-time, direct hire basis. This Bookkeeper role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records, managing daily transactions, and supporting specialized oil and gas accounting functions such as revenue accounting and Joint Interest Billing.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain accurate financial records, bookkeeping entries, and accounting transactions.
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor invoices, and payments.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, vendor balances, and general ledger accounts.
- Assist with revenue accounting, Joint Interest Billing, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
- Prepare and review financial reports for accuracy and support audit documentation requests.
- Use accounting software and Excel to maintain records, generate reports, and support accounting operations.

Compensation and Benefits

- $45,000 to $65,000 annually, depending on experience.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, accounting entries, reconciliations, and transaction processing.
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, and financial recordkeeping.
- Assist with revenue accounting, Joint Interest Billing, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
- Prepare accurate reports and documentation to support accounting leadership and audit requests.

- 3 to 5 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or closely related experience.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger activity, and financial reporting.
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency using accounting software.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, and handle confidential financial information professionally.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with accounting, management, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in oil and gas accounting, revenue accounting, or Joint Interest Billing.
- Prior experience working in accounting and auditing services, energy, or a related financial environment.
- Familiarity with month-end close processes, audit support, and financial documentation.
- Associate degree or higher in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
