We are seeking a Bilingual Community Language & Patient Support Specialist to support cultural, linguistic, and patient services operations within a managed care healthcare environment. This temporary, full-time position supports language access services, translation and interpretation coordination, compliance activities, community outreach, and administrative operations.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, holds a Tier II bilingual Spanish/English certification, and has prior experience in healthcare or managed care environments with direct involvement in professional translation and interpretation services. This position requires strict adherence to state and federal healthcare regulations, HIPAA, and confidentiality standards.
Cultural and Linguistic Services Responsibilities
Assess member cultural and linguistic needs to support equitable access to healthcare services
Coordinate professional translation and interpretation services, including:
Vendor scheduling
Communication and coordination
Quality assurance and service tracking
Support vendor management activities related to language services
Assist in the development and review of educational and informational materials for members, providers, and internal staff
Support staff and provider training initiatives related to:
Cultural competency
Language access standard
Ensure ongoing compliance with state and federal linguistic access regulations
Participate in community outreach activities and program events, as assigned
Prepare reports, project documentation, and compliance-related materials
Support internal departments with language access and cultural competency needs
Patient Services and Administrative Support
Open, date-stamp, sort, and distribute incoming mail according to departmental procedures
Manage returned mail, correct addresses, and re-mail documents as required
Answer incoming calls and place outbound calls in a professional and courteous manner
Accurately document all member and provider interactions in CRM systems
Draft routine correspondence, including letters, memos, and confidential reports
Create, maintain, retrieve, scan, and purge manual and electronic files
Maintain department inventories and document tracking logs
Operate standard office equipment, including:
Copiers
Scanners
Fax machines
Multi-line phone systems
Assist management and cross-functional teams with special projects
Adhere to all company policies related to confidentiality, HIPAA, and employment standards
All candidates must meet all of the following requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in health, social services, liberal arts, or a related field
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a managed care or healthcare setting involving professional translation and interpretation services
Tier II Bilingual English/Spanish certification (verbal and written) – Required
High School Diploma or GED (documentation required)
Typing speed of 30 words per minute or higher
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
High attention to detail and accuracy
Proficiency with:
CRM systems
Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Electronic document management and scanning systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally
