Responsibilities
Review outpatient and elective inpatient service requests for medical necessity.
Apply clinical guidelines, MCG criteria, and Medi-Cal coverage standards.
Communicate with providers and internal departments to coordinate patient services.
Refer appropriate cases to the Medical Director when needed.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of covered benefits and assist with internal program referrals.
Accurately document all case activity and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
Requirements
High School Diploma required.
Minimum 2 years of experience in acute care, community health, or chronic disease management.
Basic understanding of medical terminology; ICD-10 knowledge preferred but not required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database navigation.
Ability to type at least 30 WPM.
Must pass drug test and background check.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
Bilingual English/Spanish.
Medical Assistant (MA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Experience with MCG guidelines and Medi-Cal coverage.
Tier I or Tier II Certification.
Familiarity with healthcare authorization workflows and clinical review processes.
