Accounting Manager – Job Summary

The Accounting Manager uses independent judgment and discretion to lead the Accounting Department, supervising two or more employees and spending over 50% of their time on exempt-level duties. This role oversees General Accounting, Financial Reporting, Credit, A/R, and A/P functions. The Accounting Manager ensures compliance with internal controls, company policies, US GAAP, and SEC requirements, safeguarding company assets and maintaining accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and supervise accounting staff; participate in hiring, performance management, and development.

Oversee general accounting functions including financial reporting, cash management, balance sheet management (excluding inventory), and royalty accounting.

Maintain and enforce internal controls and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Provide technical GAAP guidance, including on acquisitions/dispositions.

Review revenue recognition in real-time in coordination with Sales and Customer Service.

Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial reports, reconciliations, and compliance documentation.

Supervise tax filings (income, property, sales/use, payroll, etc.) and support Tax, Treasury, and Risk functions.

Support system integrity and validate accounting system changes.

Coordinate internal/external audits and implement resulting recommendations.

Support AFIH operations, including banking, financial statements, budgeting, and accounting support for overseas subsidiaries.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

1–2 years of relevant accounting experience with corporate accounting knowledge

Experience managing a team

Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting

Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams

Manufacturing industry experience preferred

Fluent in Japanese and English

Excellent communication and leadership skills
