Benefits Specialist (Bilingual – Spanish/English Required)

Location: Oxnard, CA (Onsite)

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a well-established, global organization in the food production and distribution industry to identify a Benefits Specialist. This is a highly impactful role supporting a large, fast-paced workforce, where leave of absence (LOA) expertise is absolutely critical to success.

Position Summary

The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs, with a heavy focus on leave of absence (LOA) management and compliance. This individual will serve as the subject matter expert for all LOA processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a positive employee experience.

This role partners closely with HR leadership and acts as a key resource for employees navigating benefits and leave-related matters.

Key Responsibilities
Own and manage all LOA processes including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and other state/federal leave programs
Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding leave requests, accommodations, and benefits questions
Administer and track all aspects of leave cases, including documentation, approvals, and return-to-work processes
Ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, ERISA, HIPAA, etc.)
Partner with third-party administrators and vendors to manage leave and disability claims
Support and administer health, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, and retirement plans
Lead open enrollment processes, including employee communications and vendor coordination
Manage benefits-related audits, reporting, and compliance testing (e.g., 401k, IRS, DOL)
Maintain and analyze benefits metrics, invoicing, and funding
Support wellness initiatives and employee education programs
Collaborate with HR leadership on benefits strategy and program improvements

Required Qualifications
Bilingual in Spanish and English (required)
Proven, hands-on expertise managing LOA programs (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, disability, etc.) – this is a must-have
Experience supporting a workforce of 300–400+ employees
2–5+ years of HR experience with a strong focus on benefits administration
Strong knowledge of federal and state leave laws and compliance requirements
Experience working with benefits vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong communication skills with the ability to support a diverse employee population
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently
