A reputable law firm is seeking a Bankruptcy Paralegal to join its team. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to contribute meaningfully in a collaborative, client-focused legal environment. The ideal candidate is a service-minded professional with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of bankruptcy procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management: Support attorneys in managing bankruptcy cases from start to finish, including preparing petitions, schedules, and other legal documents.
Client Interaction: Serve as a liaison between clients and attorneys, maintaining ongoing communication and ensuring the timely collection of documentation.
Legal Research: Conduct research on bankruptcy laws, procedures, and regulations to assist with case strategy and preparation.
Document Preparation & Filing: Draft motions, pleadings, and correspondence; file documents with the bankruptcy court and ensure all deadlines are met.
Financial Analysis: Review and assess client financial records such as tax returns, income statements, and asset inventories.
Court Support: Assist with hearing and trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and coordinating with court personnel.
Administrative Support: Manage attorney calendars, schedule appointments, and maintain both digital and physical filing systems.
Professional Development: Stay up to date with changes in bankruptcy law and court procedures through continuing education.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure high-quality client service and efficient case handling.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution.
Experience: 3–5 years of prior experience in bankruptcy law preferred.
Skills & Attributes:
In-depth knowledge of bankruptcy law and court procedures
Proficiency in legal research and drafting
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical conduct
Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software
Work Environment
Professional office setting
Standard business hours, with occasional overtime based on deadlines or client needs
Occasional travel for court appearances or meetings may be required
