Authorization Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Patient Service Representative to join our outpatient clinic team. This role will primarily focus on submitting authorizations for orthopedic procedures and surgeries, and requires a strong understanding of CPT codes and insurance processes.

Important Requirement:
Applicants must have at least 2 years of experience with authorizations including CPT and ICD-10 coding. This experience must be clearly listed on your resume.

Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for patient relations in person and via phone
Greet patients, address concerns, and escalate issues appropriately
Manage patient check-in/check-out, collect co-payments, issue receipts, and reconcile payments
Verify patient demographics and insurance information using CS-Link/Epic
Schedule appointments and complete patient registration
Submit and track referrals and authorizations for various insurance types, with a focus on orthopedic procedures/surgeries
Handle patient and provider correspondence
Clearly explain policies, procedures, and services to patients
Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace per department guidelines


Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience with CPT codes and authorizations
Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT codes
1 year of recent experience in an outpatient clinic or medical office setting
Ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instructions

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with CS-Link/Epic
Experience handling Workers’ Compensation claims
Knowledge of medical terminology
