Position Summary:
The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Mortgage assists in the daily operations of the mortgage loan department, ensuring efficient processes, regulatory compliance, and profitability. The AVP supervises sales and operations staff, oversees mortgage pipelines, and ensures timely loan closings, sales, and portfolio bookings. This role plays a critical part in managing profit margins, quality control, and compliance within all residential mortgage activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Supervise staff as directed by the VP of Mortgage, including performance evaluations and training.
-Oversee compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and internal policies.
-Manage and resolve investor, insurer, and quality control audit responses.
-Promote a productive and professional team environment.
-Oversee quality control, reporting, and operational efficiency of the mortgage division.
-Train new and existing staff on loan pre-qualification, submission, approval, and compliance procedures.
-Monitor adherence to underwriting standards, loan policy, and applicable laws.
-Support compliance procedures and internal monitoring systems.
-Ensure efficient production and timely delivery of residential mortgage loans to the secondary market or internal portfolio.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Minimum 7 years of experience in mortgage operations or a related field.
-Demonstrated experience in conventional mortgage lending, including underwriting, processing, and quality assurance.
-Experience managing high-volume operations and supervising teams.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.

Additional Requirements:

-Ability to read and interpret business, technical, and regulatory documents.
-Strong reasoning and problem-solving abilities; capable of managing abstract and complex information.
-Mathematical aptitude for interpreting data, analyzing trends, and solving finance-related problems.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
-Working knowledge of mortgage banking software and IT systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises 1–5 mortgage department employees. Responsibilities include hiring, training, directing, appraising, and disciplining staff, and resolving issues in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.

Travel:
Some travel may be required to support regional operations and branch locations.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
