Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Property Manager for a temp-to-hire opportunity supporting daily operations within an affordable housing property management environment in San Francisco, CA.

You must have no less than 4-5 years experience as an Assistant Property Manager.

This role is ideal for a property management professional with strong resident relations, leasing support, administrative coordination, and affordable housing compliance experience.

The Assistant Property Manager will partner closely with property leadership to help maintain occupancy, support residents, manage accurate resident files, and ensure compliance with LIHTC, Tax Credit, and HUD program requirements. This opportunity offers a stable, community-focused work environment with supportive leadership, positive teamwork, and meaningful work that directly impacts residents and the surrounding community.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the Property Manager with daily property operations, resident services, leasing activities, and administrative functions.
- Process move-ins, move-outs, transfers, annual recertifications, interim recertifications, and related resident documentation.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and audit-ready resident files in accordance with LIHTC, HUD, and company requirements.
- Review income, assets, household composition, and eligibility documentation to support affordable housing compliance.
- Respond to resident questions and concerns professionally while coordinating maintenance requests and work order follow-up.
- Collect and process rent payments, assist with delinquency follow-up, and prepare reports, notices, correspondence, and property documentation.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay rate: $30.00 to $32.00 per hour.
- Job type: Temp-to-hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support affordable housing property operations, leasing administration, resident services, and compliance documentation.
- Manage resident files, recertifications, move-in and move-out paperwork, and eligibility documentation.
- Coordinate resident communication, maintenance follow-up, rent collection support, and administrative reporting.

- 3 to 5 years of property management, affordable housing, leasing, or related administrative experience.
- Experience with LIHTC, Tax Credit, HUD, or affordable housing compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of resident file management, recertification processes, income verification, and eligibility documentation.
- Excellent customer service, communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with accuracy, professionalism, and discretion.
- Proficiency with property management systems, Microsoft Office, and general administrative tools is helpful.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience supporting an affordable housing community or multifamily residential property.
- Familiarity with audit preparation, compliance reviews, and maintaining audit-ready resident files.
- Bilingual communication skills are helpful but not required.
- A collaborative, resident-focused approach with the ability to work effectively with property leadership, residents, vendors, and maintenance teams.
