Assistant Controller
Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL (Onsite)
Compensation: $150,000–$170,000 base salary + ~20% annual bonus
Employment Type: Full-Time, In Office

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join a rapidly growing construction and solar energy organization. This onsite leadership role is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls in a complex, high-revenue environment.
This position requires significant experience within large construction or project-based companies, ideally supporting organizations with $500M+ in annual revenue.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor accounting teams across general ledger, AP/AR, and payroll
Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Manage WIP reporting, job costing, backlog, and margin analysis
Ensure proper application of ASC 606 (percentage-of-completion)
Oversee construction billing processes (AIA billing, retainage, lien waivers)
Support cash flow forecasting, audits, and financial controls
Drive process improvements and ERP optimization (Sage, Procore, NetSuite, or similar)


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
5+ years in an accounting leadership role
Construction or project-based industry experience required
Deep expertise in job costing, WIP, construction billing, and revenue recognition
Advanced Excel and strong ERP system experience
