Assistant Controller – Manufacturing | Full-Time
Paying between $105k-$115k annually depending on experience

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller with strong manufacturing cost accounting, GAAP expertise, and a degree in Accounting or Finance. This role serves as a strategic financial partner to the Plant Manager, turning operational data into insights that improve throughput, yield, scrap, and margin performance.

The Assistant Controller will lead key financial processes including monthly close, cost accounting, variance analysis, reconciliations, and audit support. Working closely with the North America Controller, this position contributes to budgets, forecasts, profitability analysis, and monthly business reviews, providing clear variance narratives and recommendations. This role will also help standardize reporting, automate analysis, track capital expenditures, and drive ongoing process improvements across the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as financial partner to the Plant Manager, providing actionable insights to improve plant performance.

Lead performance variance reviews and drive corrective actions.

Support monthly close: journals, accruals, standard entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Maintain strong internal controls and assist with internal/external audits.

Manage standard costs, BOMs/routings, cost rolls, and manufacturing variances.

Support profitability analysis, budgets, and forecasts.

Track CapEx and automate recurring reporting using advanced Excel.

Improve and document SOPs to scale best practices.

Requirements:

5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including manufacturing cost accounting.

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.

Experience with ERP systems (manufacturing ERPs highly preferred).

Advanced Excel (Power Query, PivotTables, XLOOKUP, etc.).

Strong communication skills, able to partner with both plant leadership and corporate functions.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CMA/CPA preferred.
