A growing manufacturing operation in Escondido, CA is seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to support purchasing, supplier follow-up, material availability, and purchase order accuracy. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment, takes ownership of open orders, and communicates effectively with vendors and internal teams. Required Qualifications and Skills
The Assistant Buyer will work closely with Procurement, Receiving, Production, Accounts Payable, and suppliers to help ensure materials are ordered accurately and delivered at the right quantity, price, and time. This role offers the opportunity to join a collaborative onsite team with supportive leadership, strong cross-functional communication, and visibility into purchasing, inventory, and ERP processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, issue, revise, and maintain purchase orders in QuickBooks while verifying pricing, quantities, item details, delivery dates, and supplier information.
- Monitor open purchase orders, supplier confirmations, lead times, past-due orders, partial deliveries, shortages, and upcoming production needs.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, substitutions, delays, delivery schedules, MOQs, freight details, and order status.
- Coordinate returns, RMAs, credits, replacements, refunds, and related supplier documentation.
- Partner with Receiving and Accounts Payable to resolve PO, packing slip, receipt, invoice, pricing, freight, and vendor discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and prepare reports using Excel and QuickBooks.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: $80,000 to $95,000.

- 3 to 5 years of relevant purchasing, procurement support, inventory, materials, AP, or order administration experience.
- Hands-on QuickBooks experience required.
- Strong Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, formulas, and lookups.
- Experience working with purchase orders, supplier follow-up, receiving documentation, and invoice discrepancy research.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, communication, and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple open orders, supplier commitments, deadlines, and changing production priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Enterprise experience.
- Manufacturing or distribution industry experience.
- NetSuite or other ERP system experience.
- Experience supporting an ERP transition or system migration.
- Familiarity with supplier quotes, lead times, MOQs, freight charges, RMAs, credits, and three-way matching.
