Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assembly/Soldering Technician for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Sylmar, CA, supporting precision aerospace and defense manufacturing. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented technician with strong hand soldering, electromechanical assembly, cable assembly, and inspection experience in a quality-driven production environment.
The Assembly/Soldering Technician will work with precision electronic and mechanical components used in aerospace applications, following work instructions, engineering drawings, IPC standards, and quality procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Assemble aerospace electronic and electromechanical components according to work instructions, engineering drawings, specifications, and production requirements.
- Perform hand soldering of through-hole and surface mount components in accordance with IPC workmanship standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, Bills of Materials, and related production documentation.
- Route, strip, crimp, terminate, and assemble wires, cables, harnesses, connectors, circuit boards, and mechanical subassemblies.
- Perform visual inspections, in-process checks, rework, repairs, and basic troubleshooting to support product quality.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow ESD, safety, quality, and clean manufacturing procedures.

- Pay range: $24.00 to $30.00 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Assemble precision aerospace electronic, electromechanical, cable, harness, connector, and mechanical subassemblies.
- Perform IPC-level hand soldering, including through-hole and surface mount component work.
- Complete in-process inspection, documentation, rework, and repair activities.
- Follow engineering drawings, work instructions, quality standards, and production schedules.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant assembly and soldering experience preferred, ideally in aerospace, defense, medical device, or electronics manufacturing.
- Experience soldering to IPC standards, including IPC J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, BOMs, and written work instructions.
- Experience with wire stripping, crimping, cable assembly, harness assembly, and connector installation.
- Familiarity with ESD procedures, clean manufacturing practices, and quality documentation.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, microscopes, and precision measuring instruments.
- Strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Good vision, corrected if necessary, for inspecting small components and performing precision soldering.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in an ITAR-regulated aerospace manufacturing facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current IPC J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610 certification.
- Experience with aerospace or military electronic assemblies.
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality standards.
- Experience using microscopes for fine-pitch soldering and inspection.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
