Controller Level Accountant Needed – Agriculture Industry
Take Ownership of Fixed Assets & Inventory Integrity
A well-established agriculture company is seeking a meticulous and experienced Controller Accountant to lead critical financial operations focused on fixed asset reconciliation and inventory control. This role is ideal for professionals with a background in audit, public accounting, or agricultural finance, and offers a clear path toward long-term succession planning.
Key Responsibilities
• Fixed Asset Reconciliation:
o Conduct a comprehensive reconciliation of fixed assets across multiple locations.
o Validate asset records, depreciation schedules, and physical asset verification.
o Implement controls to ensure ongoing accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Inventory Control & Cycle Counts:
o Lead full physical inventory counts across all operational sites.
o Develop and enforce procedures for inventory tracking, valuation, and reporting.
o Identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions to improve accuracy and accountability.
• Audit & Internal Controls:
o Apply audit principles to strengthen internal controls around asset management and inventory.
o Prepare documentation and support for external audits and internal reviews.
• Multi-Entity Accounting:
o Manage financial data across multiple business entities, ensuring consistency and transparency.
o Assist with intercompany reconciliations and consolidated reporting.
• Financial Operations Support:
o Contribute to month-end close processes and cash flow forecasting once core asset and inventory tasks are completed.
o Collaborate with senior accountants transitioning to reduced roles, with the opportunity to assume broader responsibilities over time.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA preferred but not required
• Minimum 5 years of experience in public accounting or agriculture finance
• Strong understanding of GAAP, audit practices, and asset/inventory accounting
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Compensation & Benefits
• Base Salary: $90,000–$120,000 annually, depending on experience
• Bonus: Eligible for annual discretionary bonus
