Job Summary:
The CNC Machinist proficiently operates HAAS Milling machines or HAAS Lathes, has
a strong understanding of CNC machine settings and operation, and possesses the
capability to successfully accomplish part set-up prior to the commencement of
machining tasks. This is a hands-on working position. This CNC Machinist is highly
skilled in programming or verifying existing programming for assigned CNC machining
tasks or processes using AutoCAD, Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Geomagic
and VX Elements, and plays a critical role in performing high quality maintenance and
repairs on components that meet stringent specifications for the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA).
Core Responsibilities:
• Reviews drawings, sketches, blueprints or schematics prior to production job
commencement.
• Conducts machine set-up prior to each production assignment and proficiently
operates HAAS Milling Machines and HAAS Lathes using in-depth knowledge of
working techniques, including adjusting machine controls to regulate feeds and
speeds.
• Scans production jobs in and out of Quantum Labor Scanning to ensure
production-level accuracy.
• Performs precision machining to produce components within tight tolerances and
systematically monitors machine progress to prevent damage to customer parts.
• Inspects finished parts with gauges and micrometers to ensure conformance with
quality standards and specifications.
•Responsible for equipment maintenance, including lubrication and cleanliness to ensure continued optimal performance.
•Adheres to all safety regulations, maintains a safe work environment, and reports any irregularities timely.
•Adheres to production schedules and requirements and maintains accurate records of production output.
•Perform other duties as assigned. This position occasionally requires mandatory overtime, with little or no advance notice.
Required Skills/Abilities:
•In-depth knowledge of machine settings and operation, as well as familiarity with shop equipment such as grinders, chop saws, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, travel indicators, thread gauges and other measuring equipment.
•Proficiency in part setup and adjustment, as well as safe machine operation practices.
•Knowledge of CNC G-Codes and M Codes.
•Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to produce precise work with tight tolerances.
•Solid analyzing and problem-solving skills, using logic and innovation to overcome obstacles during the machining process.
•Familiarity with aerospace materials, and a good understanding of feeds and speeds pertaining to various materials.
•Attention to detail and the ability to read blueprints and schematics.
•Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with good familiarity of machine shop hand tools.
Must demonstrate comprehension of oral instructions
and directives provided, as well as the ability to communicate information and ideas effectively to others.
•Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language, in accordance with the eligibility requirements of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 145.
•All maintenance and inspection-related positions are required to submit to pre-employment and random DOT drug and alcohol testing, in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 120.
