The CNC Machinist proficiently operates HAAS Milling Machines and HAAS Lathes, with a strong understanding of machine setup, settings, and operation. This individual is responsible for performing complete part setups prior to machining and executing precision machining tasks in a hands-on production environment. The role plays a critical part in manufacturing and repairing components that meet stringent quality standards, including those required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Core Responsibilities:
· Review drawings, sketches, blueprints, and schematics prior to production.
· Perform full machine setups for each job, including tooling selection, offsets, and fixture alignment.
· Operate HAAS Milling Machines and HAAS Lathes using proper machining techniques.
· Adjust machine controls to regulate feeds, speeds, and cutting conditions as needed.
· Accurately scan production jobs in and out of the system to maintain production tracking.
· Execute precision machining operations to produce parts within tight tolerances.
· Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and prevent damage to parts or equipment.
· Inspect finished components using precision measuring tools to ensure compliance with specifications.
· Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication, to ensure optimal performance.
· Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
· Meet production schedules and maintain accurate production records.
· Perform other duties as assigned, including overtime as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Strong knowledge of CNC machine operation, setup, and adjustment.
· Ability to perform complete part setups independently.
· Familiarity with shop equipment including grinders, saws, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
· Basic understanding of CNC controls, including the ability to read and follow existing programs (no programming required).
· Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work within tight tolerances.
· Problem-solving skills to address machining and setup challenges.
· Experience working with aerospace materials and understanding proper feeds and speeds.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
· High attention to detail and strong manual dexterity.
· Effective communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
· Ability to read, write, and understand English in compliance with FAA regulations (14 CFR Part 145).
· Willingness to comply with pre-employment and random DOT drug and alcohol testing (14 CFR Part 120).
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Minimum of 6 years of experience as a CNC Machinist in a production or machine shop environment.
· Strong experience with HAAS Mills and/or Lathes preferred.
