A growing organization in the furniture distribution industry is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity in San Diego, CA. This role is ideal for an experienced AR professional who enjoys researching account issues, resolving deductions, managing cash application, and partnering with internal teams to keep customer accounts accurate and current.
This Accounts Receivable Specialist position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative finance environment with supportive leadership, cross-functional teamwork, and room for long-term growth. The role is a strong fit for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced setting with high-volume customer accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Accounts Receivable activity for assigned customer accounts, including cash application, payment posting, and account maintenance.
- Monitor outstanding invoices, follow up on past-due balances, and support timely collections efforts.
- Research and resolve customer deductions, chargebacks, shortages, pricing discrepancies, and promotional allowances.
- Reconcile customer accounts, investigate payment discrepancies, and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
- Use customer and retailer portals to retrieve remittance information, submit disputes, and track open claims through resolution.
- Partner with Finance, Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, and Marketing teams to resolve account issues and support month-end close.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $23 to $26 per hour.
- Job Type: Temp-to-Hire.
- Location: San Diego, CA
- Experience with cash application, collections, account reconciliation, deductions, or chargebacks.
- Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP.
- Ability to research discrepancies, analyze account details, and resolve issues accurately.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and dependable, with the ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with large retail or big-box customer accounts.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience.
