We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist for a direct hire opportunity in San Diego, CA. This role supports a fast-paced furniture distribution environment and is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys account reconciliation, customer deduction research, cash application, and working with large retail customer accounts.
The Accounts Receivable Specialist will join a collaborative Finance team where accuracy, organization, and communication are highly valued. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to contribute to a stable, team-oriented environment with supportive leadership, cross-functional partnership, and visibility across Finance, Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, and Marketing.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full accounts receivable process for assigned customer accounts, including cash application and account reconciliation.
- Monitor outstanding invoices, follow up on payments, and support timely collections.
- Research, validate, and resolve customer deductions, chargebacks, shortages, pricing discrepancies, and promotional allowances.
- Work within customer and retailer portals to retrieve remittance details, dispute invalid deductions, upload documentation, and track claim status.
- Collaborate with internal global teams to resolve billing, deduction, and payment discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with month-end close activities in accordance with company policies and accounting procedures.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range: $23 to $26 per hour.
- Job type: Direct hire.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday.
- Work arrangement: 100% onsite in San Diego, CA.
- Manage accounts receivable activity for assigned customer accounts.
- Research and resolve customer deductions, chargebacks, and billing discrepancies.
- Use retailer portals to obtain remittance information, submit disputes, and track deduction claims.
- Support month-end close through accurate records, reconciliations, and reporting.
- 2 to 3 years of accounts receivable experience required.
- Experience with cash application, collections, reconciliations, deductions, and discrepancy resolution.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and AI data analysis.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Finance, Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, Marketing, and external customers.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven accounting environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Accounts receivable experience within the furniture industry.
- Experience working with big box retail accounts.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365.
