Position Summary
As an AR Accountant, you will drive accuracy and efficiency across the AR cycle, specializing in payment applications and reconciliations. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented problem solver with advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including lookups, tables, and data extraction). You will work both independently and collaboratively to support process improvements and ensure compliance. This position offers flexible work arrangements (in-person, hybrid, or fully remote) based on location, performance, and skill proficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Leverage advanced Excel functions (including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, tables, pivot tables, and data extraction) to analyze and manage financial data.
• Manage the full accounts receivable cycle, including accurate invoice generation, payment posting, and follow-ups on outstanding balances to ensure timely collections.
• Perform complex reconciliations and investigate payment discrepancies, ensuring all accounts are accurately documented and resolved.
• Process and verify clinic billing data to ensure proper billing and data integrity.
• Support month-end close procedures, including preparing AR-related journal entries, generating AR Aging reports, and calculating bad debt allowances.
• Act as the primary financial liaison for customers, professionally resolving billing inquiries, payment issues, and account discrepancies in collaboration with internal teams.
• Partner cross-functionally with sales, appeals, and internal operations to streamline AR workflows and resolve roadblocks.
• Drive continuous improvement by proactively identifying billing inefficiencies and proposing actionable solutions to enhance accuracy.
• Maintain strict adherence to company policies, HIPAA regulations, and confidentiality standards related to customer financial information.
Qualifications:
· Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent practical experience, with 2+ years of progressive experience in full-cycle Accounts Receivable or billing.
· Technical Proficiency: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and large-scale data analysis), proficiency with Sage, NetSuite or Healthcare Information Systems is a plus.
· Industry Knowledge: Experience in healthcare billing and familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards is highly preferred.
· Accounting Principles: Solid understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP), specifically related to accounts receivable and revenue recognition.
· Analytical Problem Solving: Proven ability to analyze complex billing discrepancies, reconcile accounts, and implement effective, independent solutions.
