Accounts Payable Specialist

Supports the accounting team by processing invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely and accurate payments. This role works closely with internal departments, vendors, and leadership to resolve discrepancies, support budgets, and maintain compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Process, review, and code invoices for payment; ensure accuracy and proper documentation
Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents
Prepare and process checks and maintain payment records
Communicate with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies and payment questions
Maintain organized, auditable files for invoices, expenditures, and accounts
Enter accounting data and generate reports using accounting systems
Research and respond to budget questions from departments
Create budget adjustment entries and journal entries for review and approval
Assist with correcting coding errors and reconciling accounts
Support special accounting projects and perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of accounts payable experience

Skills & Competencies

Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
Solid understanding of accounts payable processes and basic accounting principles
Comfortable working with accounting systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
