Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor for a direct hire opportunity with a manufacturing organization in the Bakersfield, CA area. This management-level role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys leading daily accounting operations, supporting accurate financial reporting, and improving processes in a fast-paced production environment.
The Accounting Supervisor will play a key role in overseeing general ledger activity, supporting month-end close, reviewing reconciliations, and partnering with internal teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily accounting operations, including general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, and close-related tasks.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Review accounting work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Partner with operations, finance, and leadership teams to provide reporting support, resolve discrepancies, and improve accounting processes.
- Assist with audit preparation, documentation, internal controls, and compliance-related activities.
- Lead, coach, and support accounting staff to promote accuracy, efficiency, accountability, and professional development.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $90,000 to $100,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Supervise accounting operations and support daily general ledger activities.
- Lead month-end close tasks, reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting support.
- Review accounting work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely completion.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve processes and resolve accounting issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- 3 to 5 years of strong leadership experience in an accounting environment.
- Management-level accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, production, or fast-paced business environment.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and support accounting team members in a hands-on leadership capacity.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and follow-through skills.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, deadlines, compliance, and accountability.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work with finance, operations, and leadership teams.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Reliable work history with no significant employment gaps preferred by the client.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, or plant-level financial support.
- Prior supervisory experience within a mid-sized or larger accounting department.
- Familiarity with internal controls, audit support, and process improvement initiatives.
