About the Role
A well-established professional services firm in Winter Park is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist / Bookkeeper to join their team. This role will be responsible for managing billing, tracking payments, and maintaining accurate financial records to support daily business operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience in accounts receivable, billing, or bookkeeping within a professional services environment where employee time tracking and billable hours are part of the billing process. Experience working in a law firm or legal environment is a strong plus, but not required.
This is an in-office role within a collaborative and professional team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and distribute client invoices
Track, monitor, and follow up on outstanding payments
Record incoming payments and reconcile client accounts
Manage billing processes including:
Meeting regularly with attorneys/staff to review monthly time entries
Determining billable time and preparing draft invoices
Presenting draft invoices for approval prior to sending to clients
Conduct collections efforts through professional phone and email communication
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
Assist with bank reconciliations and month-end reporting
Work with internal team members to resolve billing inquiries
Provide occasional administrative support to assist with office operations
Qualifications
Experience in accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or accounting
Background in professional services environments where time tracking is required
Legal or law firm billing experience is a plus
Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication and client service skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Self-starter who can work independently while remaining accountable
Professional and courteous demeanor when handling client billing or collections
