Job Summary

We are seeking an Accounting Specialist for a public sector accounting team in Vancouver, WA. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with 3 to 5 years of experience who enjoys detailed reconciliations, accounts receivable processing, general ledger work, and supporting accurate financial reporting.

The Accounting Specialist will work in a structured, mission-focused environment with a collaborative team and supportive accounting leadership. Key Responsibilities
- Process daily accounts receivable activity, including cash receipts data entry and revenue transactions.
- Audit cash collection reports, reconcile sales reports, and research discrepancies.
- Prepare and enter general ledger journal entries in accordance with accounting standards.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, identify variances, and support accurate financial reporting.
- Manage fare revenue system reporting and help ensure data integrity.
- Assist with accounts payable invoice processing and monthly and year-end close activities.

Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range provided: $75,000 to $80,000 per year.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Location: Vancouver, WA.
- Target fill date: ASAP




Required Qualifications and Skills

- Process accounts receivable transactions, cash receipts, and revenue-related accounting activity.
- Prepare journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and support month-end and year-end close.
- Audit cash collection reports and reconcile sales or revenue reports for accuracy.
- Assist with accounts payable invoice processing and financial reporting support.

- 3 to 5 years of accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Working knowledge of GAAP accounting standards.
- Understanding of financial statement components.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Experience using computerized financial applications.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to identify variances, research discrepancies, and communicate findings clearly.
- Must have passed a background check prior to submission or consideration.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Workday ERP.
- Accounting experience in a government, public sector, transit, or highly regulated environment.
- Experience supporting fare revenue, cash collection, or high-volume revenue reconciliation processes.
