Job Summary

A well-established legal services organization in Orlando, FL is seeking an Accounting Specialist for a direct hire opportunity. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong banking, reconciliation, trust accounting, escrow, and general ledger experience.

The Accounting Specialist will support day-to-day accounting and banking operations, including trust/IOTA activity, real estate closing transactions, cash management, bank reconciliations, and month-end accounting support. Key Responsibilities

- Manage accounting activity related to real estate closings, including incoming funds, settlement statement verification, closing disbursements, and client or matter records.
- Maintain trust ledgers, closing logs, sub-accounts, transfers, and documentation for trust and operating accounts.
- Perform monthly three-way trust account reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and monitor trust balances for negative ledgers, stale balances, and aging items.
- Prepare daily cash reporting, process outgoing wires, enter incoming wires, review ACH activity, and manage online banking functions.
- Reconcile operating bank accounts, merchant accounts, credit cards, and line-of-credit accounts.
- Support journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, month-end close, 1099 reporting, audits, escheatment reporting, and accounting workflow improvements.

Additional Skills

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage trust/IOTA accounting, escrow-related accounting, banking activity, and cash management processes.
- Perform detailed bank reconciliations, trust reconciliations, and general ledger accounting tasks.
- Support month-end close, financial reporting, wire processing, ACH review, and accounting documentation.
- Maintain accurate, confidential financial records in accordance with internal policies and applicable requirements.

- 3 or more years of accounting experience, including bank reconciliations and general ledger work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Associate degree with relevant experience will also be considered.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to reconcile accurately and manage high-volume financial transactions.
- Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion, professionalism, and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with law firm trust/IOTA accounting.
- Experience in title, escrow, or real estate closing accounting.
- Knowledge of Florida Bar trust accounting requirements.
- Experience with legal accounting or practice management systems such as Centerbase, Aderant, Elite, ProLaw, or Orion.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
