Job Summary

A direct hire Accounting Specialist opportunity is available in Monterey Park, CA, with a residential and commercial construction organization. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with 3 to 5 years of experience who enjoys hands-on accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and day-to-day accounting support in a fast-paced business environment.

The Accounting Specialist will help keep financial operations accurate, organized, and moving efficiently. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with accounting leadership, project teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders while contributing to a stable company environment with teamwork, supportive leadership, and room to continue building a strong accounting career.

Key Responsibilities

- Process accounts payable invoices, vendor payments, expense documentation, and related accounting records.
- Support accounts receivable functions, including customer billing, payment posting, collections follow-up, and account research.
- Reconcile vendor statements, customer accounts, bank activity, and general ledger accounts as assigned.
- Maintain accurate accounting files, job cost records, purchase documentation, and supporting financial data.
- Assist with month-end close activities, reporting support, and preparation of accounting schedules.
- Communicate professionally with vendors, customers, project teams, and internal departments to resolve billing or payment discrepancies.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $52,000 to $62,400 per year.
- Direct hire opportunity.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage daily accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Support reconciliations, payment processing, billing, and accounting documentation.
- Assist with month-end close, reporting, and financial record maintenance.

- 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting support.
- Strong understanding of invoice processing, payment posting, account reconciliations, and basic accounting procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software or ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills for working with vendors, customers, and internal teams.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, solve routine accounting issues, and work independently in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in the construction, residential building, commercial construction, or project-based accounting environment.
- Familiarity with job costing, purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, lien releases, or progress billing.
- Experience supporting month-end close and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Associate degree or higher in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
