Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist
$30/hour - 32 hours/week - Full benefits
Urgent opening with a well-established construction company. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of payroll, accounts payable, and certified payroll work in a close-knit, in-office environment.
About the role
The Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist supports weekly payroll processing in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, handles vendor invoice flow, and prepares certified payroll/prevailing wage reports for construction projects. You will also assist with onboarding new employees into the accounting system and be a key partner to the Accounting and HR Manager.
What you’ll do
Process weekly payroll using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise and time tracking (regular hours, overtime, deductions, etc.).
Enter and maintain time data; support certified payroll and weekly prevailing wage reporting.
Set up new employees in the accounting system and support basic onboarding-related data entry.
Input vendor and subcontractor invoices, code to appropriate jobs/accounts, and help manage weekly AP runs.
Reconcile vendor statements and maintain accurate AP records.
Respond to vendor questions and route any issues to the Accounting/HR Manager.
Prepare basic payroll and compliance reports as needed.
What we’re looking for
QuickBooks Desktop experience is required (QuickBooks Online alone is not sufficient).
Prior experience with payroll support, time entry, and accounts payable.
Construction and/or certified payroll/prevailing wage experience is a plus.
Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with multiple jobs and vendors.
Able to work on-site.
