We are looking for an Accounting Specialist with AR/AP, Sales Tax & Resale Compliance experience for an amazing growth focused surveillance and security organization in the North Dallas area. Great environment with great people and excellent benefits.
As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a key role in managing the full cycle of Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP), while ensuring compliance with multi-state sales tax regulations and maintaining accurate resale certificate documentation. This position supports operations across 20 states and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable (AR):
Generate and issue customer invoices accurately and on schedule
Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances
Apply payments and reconcile customer accounts
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies
Accounts Payable (AP):
Process vendor invoices with proper coding and approvals
Schedule and execute payments via check, ACH, or wire
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
Maintain accurate AP records and assist with month-end close
Sales Tax Compliance:
Calculate, collect, and remit sales tax across multiple states and jurisdictions
Stay current on changing tax laws and rates
Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns
Coordinate with external tax advisors or auditors as needed
Resale Certificate Management:
Maintain and update resale certificates for all applicable customers
Ensure certificates are valid, complete, and renewed as required
Provide resale certificates to vendors for tax-exempt purchases
Monitor compliance and prevent misuse of resale documentation
General Accounting Support:
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
Support audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries
Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in AR/AP roles, preferably in a multi-state environment
Strong understanding of U.S. sales tax regulations and resale certificate requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central preferred (not required)
Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $60,000/year
