Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Specialist to support our client's accounting team across a variety of financial and administrative functions. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a passion for maintaining accurate records and ensuring smooth financial operations. The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for credit and collections, insurance compliance, tax tracking, month-end close tasks, and general accounting support.

Key Responsibilities:

-Accounts Receivable & Credit Management
-Post customer payments and reconcile discrepancies as needed.
-Prepare checks for remote deposit.
-Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables by contacting customers.
-Generate and distribute weekly A/R aging and collection reports to management.

Insurance Compliance

-Monitor vendor Certificates of Insurance (COIs) through myCOI software.
-Review exceptions to coverage requirements and report findings to management.

Real Estate Tax Tracking

-Process and code real estate tax documents into internal databases.
-Verify assessment details and alert management of any discrepancies.
-Ensure timely payment of all real estate taxes, taking advantage of discount periods.
-Assist with tax appeal research as necessary.

Month-End Close Support

-Prepare bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
-Record journal entries for various company entities.
-General Accounting Support
-Prepare and file Sales and Use Tax returns and Personal Property Tax returns.
-Provide backup support for accounts payable and other accounting functions.
-Perform additional accounting-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

-Associate’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
-2–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
-Strong knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger functions.
-High attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and comfortable with accounting software.
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
