Job Summary
A growing international food manufacturing organization is seeking a Bilingual Japanese Accounting Manager for a direct hire opportunity in Hayward, CA. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who is fluent in Japanese and English and enjoys leading daily accounting operations, strengthening internal controls, and supporting accurate financial reporting for both U.S. and Japanese stakeholders.
The Accounting Manager will work closely with accounting, operations, supply chain, executive leadership, and international teams to support a stable and growing business. Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll support, month-end close, and year-end close activities.
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Coordinate financial reporting, analysis, and communication with Japanese headquarters or international stakeholders.
- Oversee inventory accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for manufacturing operations.
- Maintain and improve accounting controls, procedures, documentation, and compliance processes.
- Support external audits, tax preparation, regulatory reporting, and accounting team development.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage accounting operations across general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and financial close processes.
- Lead financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance review for a manufacturing environment.
- Support communication and reporting between U.S. operations and Japanese headquarters or international stakeholders.
- Improve internal controls, accounting procedures, documentation, and compliance workflows.
- Bilingual Japanese and English communication skills required.
- 6 to 10 years of accounting experience, preferably with progressive responsibility in a corporate accounting or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement preparation, month-end close, and general ledger accounting.
- Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, leadership, and international contacts.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead accounting processes, improve workflows, and maintain accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in food and beverage production, manufacturing, consumer products, or a related industry.
- Prior experience working with Japanese headquarters, parent companies, or international reporting structures.
- Experience supporting audits, tax preparation, regulatory reporting, and internal control improvements.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience within an accounting department.
